Mary Charmel Samonte

Before joining SACS, Mary was an associate at a healthcare law firm with a focus on healthcare fraud and abuse investigations. She was also a volunteer health attorney for Community Health Advocates, New York State’s designated Health Insurance Consumer Assistance Program. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) with a focus on medical privacy.

Prior to her legal career, Mary Samonte was a licensed healthcare provider, practicing as a physical therapist in the State of New York. She received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Michigan, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the University of the Philippines, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East. She was also a licensed physician and physical therapist in the Philippines.

She is currently serving a 2-year term on the New York City Bar Association Health Law Committee (Class of 2025). She is a member of the American Health Law Association, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Physical Therapy Association. She is also a NYC Medical Reserve Corps volunteer.
