SACS Knocks It Out of the Park
In June 2021, Jason Corrado, with the assistance of Mark Khavkin, Dominique Chin, Robert Castillo and Jessica George, obtained a directed verdict in jury trial in Suffolk County Supreme Court before the Hon. Carmen St. George. Plaintiff claimed that the vascular surgeon departed from the standard of care in performing a vein stripping procedure of the greater saphenous vein and lesser saphenous vein by injuring the plaintiff’s peroneal nerve, resulting in a foot drop. In the face of plaintiff’s demand of $975,000, Mr. Corrado successfully defended the surgeon and his practice, resulting in a directed verdict before the matter was presented to the jury. The Court concluded that plaintiff’s expert’s admissions on cross-examination that his opinions lacked competent medical support adequately demonstrated that no reasonable jury could find in plaintiff’s favor.
